Hitting Comments
Hudson showcased a strong offensive profile with the ability to impact the baseball consistently. His swing is short, quick, and direct to the ball, allowing him to get the barrel through the zone with efficiency. This compact swing path generates hard contact and gives him the ability to handle velocity. Hudson displayed the ability to drive the ball with authority, producing loud contact during the event. His mechanics are efficient and repeatable, with a level swing plane that projects well for both line-drive and gap-to-gap production. Key Strengths Short & Quick Swing Path: Compact mechanics create consistent, hard contact. Bat Speed: Quick hands allow him to adjust and square up pitches in different parts of the zone. Power Potential: Ability to drive balls into the gaps with room to develop over-the-fence power. Consistency: Shows repeatable mechanics, minimizing swing-and-miss. Key Weakness Hitting Mechanic: This may not be a norm for Hudson, but the top hand was rolling over on the swing this weekend. Top hand palm up and bottom palm down will create more back spin. Count awareness: compete with 2 strikes and put the ball in play at all cost. Use your speed to force the defense to make a play at every AB.
Fielding Comments
Hudson displayed strong defensive ability in the middle infield, showing the athleticism and instincts needed to handle both shortstop and second base. His range is a standout tool, as he moves fluidly side-to-side and makes plays deep in the hole or up the middle. Quick feet and smooth actions allow him to stay under control and transition easily into throws. While his arm is presently serviceable, continued development in arm strength will elevate his defensive profile significantly. With added velocity on his throws, Hudson has the potential to solidify himself as a true shortstop at higher levels. Key Strengths Range: Covers ground well to both sides, capable of handling premium infield positions. Athleticism: Quick first step and fluid movements create defensive consistency. Instincts: Reads hops and attacks the ball with confidence. Versatility: Can play both SS and 2B at a high level.
Projection Comments
You have the tools to compete at the D1 Juco level today. The weight room needs to be your best friend moving forward. The physical side of the game is more prevalent than ever with the guys that play up the middle. You already have the swing to compete, now you need that added pop to put you over the top. You're 2 years away from being a D1 NCAA/Draft Prospect, make the physical upgrade the most important piece of your life.
